Now Open: Kimberly Taylor Makes Good In MePa

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Finally a real estate hole in the city has been filled; Kimberly Taylor, now with a new eponymous store in the old Catriona Mackechnie spot on West 14th Street across from Apple, has successfully translated her online sales and trunk shows into good old, brick-and-mortar retail.

Looking at StyleCaster's portrait of the young designer, we learn that not only is she just 24-years old, but that she has also never had any formal fashion design instruction.

This didn't stop her from interning with Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen however, and her father's position as a former partner of Century 21 no doubt helped give a leg up. She aspires to shape her business like that of Catherine Malandrino.

Since most of her pieces?"party dresses, maxi dresses, jumpers, high-waisted skirts, silk blouses, shorts, and pants"?are pretty basic and the dresses short, her store also stocks jewelry and leggings. We have a feeling that this isn't the last we'll hear of Kimberly Taylor, for better or worse.
