THE INTERNET--In honor of director John Hughes' passing Men's Style.com has put together a slideshow of the iconic style of some of Hughes' most memorable characters. From Jake Ryan's flannel/Topsiders combo and Judd Nelson's fingerless gloves to Ferris Bueller's iconic baggy trousers, graphic cardigan and leather varsity jacket, there's no denying the director's role in giving a face to 80s underdog style. And don't even get us started on Duckie... [Men's Style.com]
NYC--Want to get on Anna Wintour's good side? In conjunction with the Vogue editor's brainchild, Fashion Night Out, Eryn Brinié’s is hosting an open call for window dresses. Specifically the boutique is looking for students. More details from our inbox: "Eryn Brinié is calling all creative students for a chance to do our window display at our Flagship in the heart of Soho. The winning designer will be seen by the public on highly trafficked Broadway and receive wide media coverage. The only restriction is to design a window using the Fashion Night out T-shirts." Sumbmissions will be accepted at the store (72 Mercer, between Spring and Broome) from 4pm-6pm on August 19th and August 20th. [Racked Inbox]
BROOKLYN--Sad news: men's vintage store Houndstooth in Williamsburg has shuttered. From our inbox: "Just wandered down Driggs St. in Wburg, and saw that Houndstooth had disappeared. They did well-curated, fairly affordable men's vintage-sad to see it go." [Racked Inbox]
