Best Fashion Week Invitation: An Underdog Contender

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Fashionista published a list of their favorite Fashion Week invitations today, and while we agree with their assessments—and look forward to round two—we'd like to pay tribute to an unmentioned designer. This morning we received a package from Leifsdottir, Anthropologie's luxury line. It was a square brown box decorated with exotic-looking stamps and emblazoned with the words "The wonders of the world await you"—like a care package from Indiana Jones, if he'd been a lot more delicate in nature. Inside was a gilded lotus made of folded white paper and a single bangle of three cardamom-pod-shaped bells. Pretty!
