Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Attention: this is not a test; this is a genuine warning to steer clear of Chelsea's Metropolitan Pavilion tomorrow unless you'd like to do one or all of these things: 1- buy discounted Alexander McQueen 2- get cast as an extra in the next Sex and the City movie 3- get clawed and/or trampled.
That's right; Alexander McQueen's first big sample sale takes place at 123 West 18th Street tomorrow from 9-7pm (Wednesday 9-6pm), at the same time as hopefuls audition to be stiletto-wearing, Cosmo-swilling SATC extras (SAG members 10-12:30; non-union 1:30-4). Say your prayers tonight, people.
Sadly, we have no prior SATC open castings or McQueen sales to set a precedent, and thus who knows what sort of shitshow will descend upon Chelsea tomorrow. You can bet we'll be there to cover it with all the yumminess of a liveblog. Now where did we put those trusty brass knuckles Elizabeth & James rings?
