Two things are sure in the weary world of NYC retail: All boutiques will someday fall, and when they do, eventually Ricky's will erect a Halloween store on their graves. OK, that's an exaggeration, but we weren't surprised by the news, reported today by Vanishing New York, that Ricky's would set one of its temporary costume shops in the former home of Marc Ecko Cut & Sew. It just seems to make sense. Cut & Sew never fit into the neighborhood, so maybe the space needs the cleansing power of Kate Gosselin wigs and sexy fireman costumes to restore some vital neighborhood balance.
