Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When Marc Jacobs takes over the space at 400 Bleecker Street that now houses Biography Bookshop, he's going to be paying eight times the current rent. It's hard for a bookstore to survive in that kind of environment, but Biography isn't done yet. Sometime this week, reports Vanishing New York, the owners will open a new store, Bookbook, at 266 Bleecker between Jones and Cornelia. Biography itself won't close down until January, so the two stores will operate simultaneously until then. As things go, this is a pretty happy ending—at least until Marc comes for that part of Bleecker, too.
