There are two times of the year when you will find more than just the one usual line of sugar-hungry tourists outside of Magnolia Bakery: the week before Christmas and the last few Saturdays before Labor Day.

Warn your family and friends who are in town looking for $7 keychains and PVC wallets; the Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories shop is approaching fire code violations. Since the Marc crowd usually just allows shoppers to pack into the store, a line outside signifies chaos inside; we'd steer clear until the first chill of fall arrives. We did notice, however, that the womenswear boutique just up the street was eerily empty.
