The Saja sample sale going on now and continuing through Sunday has a great selection of things you might actually want to wear today, while it's a million degrees outside. All dresses are $70, and the racks at the front of the store are stuffed with tons of brightly colored day dresses in loose, drapey jersey and tiny floral prints. Near the register you can find colors and fabrics that will take you through fall and winter. There are also plenty of floaty chiffon cocktail dresses and evening some dramatic evening gowns scattered throughout the store. Any garment that doesn't have a size marked is a 6 or a S/M, though the less tailored looks could work a size or two in either direction. There are a range of sizes available, but you have to hunt for anything that isn't a 6 or a 4, and the dresses run a little big.
All knits are $30, and there is a variety of sizes, including L and XL, available. There is a sizable stack of lightweight pink and orange sweaters that would be perfect around March or April, when you still need a sweater but are sick to death of winter colors. Pants, skirts and tops are $30, and jackets are $50, and they will accept credit cards.
The staff is extremely helpful, and the store is basically a big, communal fitting room with everyone stripping down and trying things on. The windows are papered over, and the door is vigilantly guarded. There are more clothes available than can fit on the racks, so there is frequent restocking. But don't cut this one too close, because they stop admitting shoppers 10 minutes before closing time. —Elizabeth Licata
