Rachel Roy aficionados will be pleased with the 85% off Spring/Summer and Resort '09 collections at the sample sale starting today. Dresses range from $100 for a white sleeveless tunic dress to $150 for a hot little strapless espresso/gold number to $400 for more embellished cocktail confections. Most dresses hover at $250 in various lengths, colors and styles. Dress sizes run mostly 6's and 8's, but a smattering of additional sizes are available. There is also an ample selection of separates like sheer flirty embellished tops, intricately patterned tunics, classy jackets and safari-inspired pants. Look out for bouclé jackets, some with a touch of metallic—running from $150 to $200 and some matching pencil skirts are in stock. Deal seekers take note—staple black trousers are $80 (also a few khaki and cream on the racks). Trouser sizes are varied.
What's out is out, so stock is limited. There is also a small rack of $25 random samples located at the entrance. The one-of-a-kind samples are mostly unfinished and look as though they came straight off the models, some with pins and tape still on them. A communal fitting room (a.k.a. the conference room) is across the reception area and is neatly and efficiently kept by the helpful and friendly staff. Hopefully the windows are shaded, otherwise the neighboring office buildings are getting a nice show! But hey, anything for fashion, right?—Fawnia Soo Hoo
