Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Back in January, Brooks Brothers closed its store at Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street. Last Thursday, they opened a space in Rockefeller Center, next door to Radio City Music Hall and exactly one block west and two blocks south of their old location. Redundant? Not so, says WWD. The new spot is a Brooks Brothers "boutique"—a smaller, cozier, more selectively curated version of the brand's usual shops. It carries all Brooks Brothers merchandise except Black Fleece (make of that what you will), but in limited quantities, the idea being that if one item runs out, the Madison Avenue flagship can just sent over more. If the Radio City store takes off, other cities will get their own boutiques soon.
