That poor Union Square Best Buy. From the announcement of its impending arrival, it's always been overshadowed by Nordstrom Rack, the homecoming queen of the Union Square Turnover Class of '09. Yesterday, when we mentioned the plywood behind which the Virgin Megastore is slowly morphing into a Rack, we completely neglected the related news that Best Buy has put up signs in the windows of its new home in the Circuit City space. OK, so they're just signs, not sexy, sexy plywood, but just think what they portend: Soon, Union Square residents won't have to walk all the way over to 23rd and Sixth for their electronics the way they've had to do for the past six months.
