Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We can't get too excited about all the "Woodstock at 40" fashion coverage, but we were fascinated by Women's Wear Daily's 1969 account of the festival, which they reprinted today and which is not exactly pro-hippie. "One cop commented, 'This isn’t a music festival. It’s a drug convention.' It really wasn’t a music festival. There was nothing festive about it and the music, although at the core, was only a part of the activities." There you have it, folks: Woodstock. Nothing festive about it. [WWD]
