Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Little LES boutique Clarabella has always been a one-woman show; owner Erin Whelan oversees the shop, selects the merchandise (including a killer shoe collection), and documents the experience on her warm, personal store blog. But running a store by yourself can be exhausting, and Whelan has started to feel the call of her hometown of Portland, Maine, so at the end of August Clarabella will call it a day. Whelan will keep her online store running, but she doesn't want to cart her entire shoe collection up north, so she's planning a massive sale for the week of August 24th. Look for labels like Tashkent, Devotte, and Farylrobin at prices that top out at $100, but mostly hover between $10 and $50.
