Storecasting: Soho's Escada Sport to Open this Year

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Usually the CB2 Landmarks Commission is the purview of our sibling site Curbed, but today we've got a scoop from Monday's meeting about the proposed storefront for the stalled Escada Sport at 560 Broadway in Soho. Our tipster tells us that the plans include dark metal doors and window frames and "a big light box display for one of the windows (which would require removal of the transom on the left window, which CB2 did not OK)." The architects, LA's Gruen Associates, plan to have the place open by the end of the year. Guess the label's bankruptcy didn't stop them after all.
