The maxim "Chanel never goes on sale" isn't entirely true, but even when the luxury brand does mark things down, its stores certainly never make a fuss about it. So we're a little shaken by the fact that a crisp black-and-white sign announcing "SALE" has appeared in the window of the Chanel boutique in Soho. Gasps the blog of online sample site shop ideeli, which discovered this aberration, "La vache! I don't remember EVER seeing 'sale' posted in a Chanel boutique window before. Is this a sign of the times? At least it does not say 'clearance.' That would be frightening."
