Store Front As Art

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Starting tomorrow night, Clic Gallery at 255 Centre Street will be showing the photographs of duo James and Karla Murray from their book focusing on NY's mom and pop shops, Store Front. "From cheerful Italian bakeries with hand-painted murals to the dingy dive bar that became a local institution, the Murrays’ bright photographs are a striking visual record of how colorful and idiosyncratic each block of New York’s streetscape once was." The opening is 6-9pm tomorrow, and it's worthwhile to note that Clic Gallery comes from Christian Celle of Calypso store fame. [Hypebeast]
