International shopping event Fashion's Night Out, which takes place this September, is an attempt to help retailers get recession-traumatized customers into their stores without resorting to the most obvious tactic—putting stuff on sale. This obviously takes some creativity (you can only lure so many reluctant shoppers with cupcakes and/or a DJ), and we think it's going to be fun watching the plans develop.
Today Fashionista pointed out our favorite idea so far: Barneys is bringing in Alexander Wang to teach shoppers the art of walking the runway. Sounds like an episode of America's Next Top Model in a bizarro hipster universe in which Tyra Banks is Erin Wasson—an idea we find both appealing and terrifying.
