Saturday afternoon, a raccoon hitched a ride to Soho on a garbage truck and wound up in the Varvatos store. "The male raccoon, believed to be about 3 years old, leaped on top of a sunglass display and lingered near a framed photo of Who guitarist Pete Townshend," reports the Daily News. Remember when the bees swarmed Gamestop in Union Square, but were foiled by an amateur beekeeper? This story doesn't have quite so happy an ending: The raccoon, which was clearly ill, had to be euthanized. [NYDN]
