Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Clothingline, the sample sale space on 36th Street in midtown, has been holding J.Crew sales regularly for months now, and every time, shoppers seem underwhelmed. Yet according to a reader, hundreds of people were waiting outside on the sidewalk yesterday when the sale began. So is it worth your time? One commenter reports "great deals for guys," especially in pants. Sample Sally agrees, although she cautions that sizes are limited for both genders. Also, as always seems to be the case with J.Crew, some of the clothing has "sample" written on the back in black marker. Still not sure whether you want to visit? Check out the price list, which Sally snagged.
