Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
So you say you want jumpsuits for summer, eh? Norma Kamali will give you your precious jumpsuits, in translucent rip-stop nylon with strategic drawstrings, no less. Her window at 11 E. 56th Street sports a whole contingent jumpsuit paratroopers, mannequins modeling such form-fitting and dramatic design as only either Rihanna or Bjork could pull off.
That doesn't mean we love them any less; in fact, the sheer innovation here hearkens back to the grand old days when Norma debuted the "sleeping bag coat" and clad Farrah Fawcett in the red swimsuit for her iconic poster shot.
The drawstring pieces are OMO Norma Kamali?her main line?and not her super cheaply-priced Wal-Mart line, which just got an injection of new pieces. Nonetheless, if you've got a model body and want to guarantee getting photographed outside the tents during September's fashion week, we'd spring for that full-body jumpsuit in the third picture above.
