In the Window: Mr. Potato Head Goes to Barneys

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What would you do if you could get your hands on hundreds of Mr. Potato Head toys? Well, we know what Barneys would do, since they just filled their Madison Avenue windows with them, as a kind of colorful mini army marching for luxury fashion.

The plastic tubers also service as an art installation, because actually looking at the windows longer than it takes to simply walk by can easily cause you to philosophize on the fact that we too are all Mr. Potato Heads, choosing what accessories to stick onto us each day. And of course, Barneys is happy to help outfit you with the best, although they can't exactly do anything in the limbs and eyes department.
