Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This is Store Sidekicks, a new end-of-the-week feature where we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures that inhabit shops across the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at tips@racked.com.
For those who remember the internet meme that was the Puppy Cam, the little pup that hangs out in Little Marc on Bleecker will be familiar. He's a 6-month-old Shiba Inu named Roy, and he joins Ruth as an unofficial Marc Jacobs sales associate, capable of attracting the attention of even the most stoic passersby.
As we reported yesterday on Marc Jacobs' moving into the Biography Bookshop space, it won't be long before Roy has a new playground.
Until then however, you can occasionally spot him hiding out underneath the stuffed elephant in the Little Marc window—Shiba Inus are a skittish, but intelligent breed—or prancing down Bleecker. Now that Little Marc sells Steiff teddy bear keychains, we couldn't for sure say that Roy is the softest thing in store, but he is pretty awesome.
