The chairman of LVMH North America, designer Donna Karan and various DOT officials want to make biking in New York more chic. "This spring, the group sponsored a competition among students at the Fashion Institute of Technology to design a poncho, a jacket and a travel bag for bicycling with both safety and style in mind. The winning designs, by Jessica Velasquez, 21, from Queens, will be made into prototypes by DKNY." Now, if they'd create a helmet that didn't completely flatten your hair, we'd be in business.
