Perry Ellis Moves Into IndyCar Territory

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When was the last time you heard of someone wearing Perry Ellis? We'll take a wild guess and assume that it's way back in the Patrick Robinson days, and lest we remind that Mr. Ellis himself has been dead since 1986.

Nonetheless, the Perry Ellis company is forging ahead with an interesting (to say the least) partnership this summer with IndyCar, like the little brother of Nascar. While they'll be holding all kinds of in-store events and giveaways around the country before IndyCar races, they've chosen to wisely stay clear of New York City.

Does this make Perry Ellis like the new Fox Racing of the auto track? Somehow, we just can't imagine the IndyCar stands full of men dressed like this, otherwise we might have to take a second look at the sport.
