Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

EVERYWHERE—When our fashion-minded children look back on the year 2009, they're going to remember it as the era when pants went insane. Submitted for addition to the Pantswatch '09 folder: Anzevino and Florence's lace-up bike shorts. If you do bike in them, try to keep the bows away from your spokes. [Is Mental]

ONLINE—On their completely adorable blog, the team behind Vena Cava offer some tips on wearing their Gap dresses. "Both Soph and myself have a natural tendency towards what we like to call 'touch of goth,'" writes Lisa Mayock. "This tendency rears its head when we attempt to make pretty, feminine summer dresses, which inevitably end up covered in studs or black hand-drawn spears." As such, they would like you to rock your khaki dress with pointy-toed creepers, a studded motorcycle jacket, and sad-clown eyeliner. Which is totally not how the Gap styled their models.
