Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This Friday, June 19th, Barnes & Noble will open the doors to their brand new, bi-level, 55,000-square-foot Upper East Side store at 150 East 86th Street. The location, which the press release states "will serve as a community center for the Upper East Side" (guess community center equals Starbucks plus public bathroom facilities), will open with a photo op with Winnie the Pooh and students from PS 169 and PS 198.
