Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This is Store Sidekicks, a new Friday feature where we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures that inhabit shops across the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at tips@racked.com.

Walking up 7th Avenue in Chelsea, you might notice two pairs of very observant eyes staring out at you from the seamless glass storefront of Malin+Goetz. Keeping guard over their flagship store, or rather serving as great doorstops, is their English bulldog Bob and French bulldog Junior.

In terms of personality, Bob and Junior are ying and yang; locals will recognize Bob as the white lovable lump and Junior as the small sprightly one, interested in every nook. And although their owners Malin and Goetz are busy opening their second Manhattan store, another in Osaka, and even new fragrances and hair care, the pups aren't about to step out of the spotlight.

Junior, the Frenchie, has a $58 candle trio (of vetiver, neroli and cannabis) named after him, a product that sits on the shelves around the world at stores like Barneys Co-op and The Conran Shop.

They even have their own fan club of sorts, as Malin+Goetz have devoted a page of their site to their four-legged friends, called "Product Hounds." To show them a little love, you can usually find the pair chilling on the weekends in the Chelsea store, playing the true New Yorker card of being totally unimpressed with the goings-on outside.
