Yesterday, kids' chain Toys 'R' Us officially acquired independent toy store and New York icon FAO Schwarz. Despite being deeply in debt, Toys 'R' Us has been on a buying spree lately, snapping up kiddie brands right and left, but this is their most PR-friendly purchase. (As one analyst put it, “The association with the premier toy brand in the world is probably a plus.") Don't worry, though: The chain plans to keep FAO's identity, and therefore everyone's childhood memories, intact. [NYT]
