Just in time for Mother's Day this weekend, the owners of Freebird Books in Red Hook came across a 70-year-old diary in the dollar bins outside the Strand. It belonged to a woman who'd planned to document her young son Larry's childhood, then give him the completed journal as a gift, so the Freebird people figured the only course of action was to track down Larry and return it. They found him in Westchester, and he "couldn't have been more gracious or more pleased." All together now: Aww. [Freebird]
