Storecasting: Red Menace Sweeps Soho

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Aside from Topshop, the other big Soho news this week is that Abercrombie has papered over its plywood on the corner of Houston and Broadway, announcing to the city its intentions to open a big-ass store there. Dedicated Racked readers will remember that the company's picked this location to open an NYC flagship for its Hollister brand. If you're young and in possession of 'natural, classic American style', they're also hiring. On-the-scene signage states that they're "looking for cool good-looking people to come and represent [the] brand." Knowing Abercrombie, emphasis on good-looking.
