Not every Soho establishment reacted to yesterday's throngs of Topshop fans with the same pure, welcoming joy as Madewell. Instead of trotting out the free coffee, employees at the Puffin Room art gallery, down the street from Topshop at 235 Broome, watched the invasion with horror. Finally, the owner starting putting up signs in the window. There are three of them, all still up, and they say—we're listing them from least to most philosophical, mind you—"Kate Moss used underwear inside," "Free lobotomies inside for Top Shoppers," and "You can never get enough of what you don't need to make you happy."
