Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Our friends over at Refinery29 have taken two big Racked obsessions—sample sales and pop-up shops—and fused them to create Save Fashion. The month-long boutique, opening at new 2,500-square-foot Port Authority-adjacent space Blank Sl8, will feature merchandise from an impressive roster of cool designers (the type that Refinery's been championing for years) at very, very friendly price points (at least 50% off). It's a sort of feel good, dress-even-better type initiative to support the fashion industry and promote talented, smaller labels.
The temporary boutique will open May 1st, with items from 15 designers; the roster will include VPL, Rachel Comey, and BOY by Band of Outsiders. The second week will bring a new shop lineup, including pieces from Rag & Bone, Acne, Helmut Lang and Rogan. And on week three, the store will go all-men's, with clothing and accessories from Black Fleece, Bblessing and Steven Alan. Drop in the last week, and the prices on whatever's left over will be slashed again. We're thinking it might be a good idea to save up over the next week (maybe even take an odd job) before this thing opens.
