Heavily-tattooed local artist/designer Montana Knox threw open the doors to his new downtown boutique, located in an alley (Extra Place) off 1st Street near the Bowery, about a week ago. It's an interesting-looking addition to the neighborhood: a mural of a black-and-white monster provides a backdrop for a rack of screenprinted organic tees, and a neon sign lights up the cashwrap. Aside from tops, there are totes, handkerchiefs and jewelry (a collaboration with Brooklyn-based label Digby and Iona). For more on the boutique, head over to their Tumblr, or click through to NYMag's writeup.
