Vogue writer Hamish Bowles had lunch at the home of former U.S. ambassador William McCormick Blair, Jr. and his wife Deeda, and blogged about the experience for all the plebes out there who will never get to experience such finery. The food, "is of a refinement and splendor and sophistication that is positively antebellum. Then there is the mise-en-scène. Entering the Blairs´ aerie on the East River is like stepping into a cloud, an ethereal, nebulous wonderment of glacier blue and ivory and the softest turtledove-grays and mauves."
