RED HOOK—The bad news: The bright orange storefront on Van Brunt near Bowne Street is not getting a Hellenic Rug company outlet. The good news: Some other, anonymous rug store is moving in. The point is, there will be rugs. [Realty Collective]
SOUTH STREET SEAPORT—Tomorrow from 4pm to 6pm, pet shop the Salty Paw at 38 Peck Slip will have a professional photographer on hand to take pictures of your dog (or, we suppose, extremely well-behaved cat/bird/hamster.) "Great for St. Patrick's Day!" says the store's email blast, making us wonder if there's some pet-portraiture element to that holiday that we've heretofore missed. Caveat: You don't have to pay to have a photo taken, but you do have to pay to keep it, rendering this slightly less awesome than it sounds. [Racked Inbox]
