Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We're sad to report that vintage footwear boutique Girls Love Shoes, notable for the sheer amount of heels and boots showcased in their Lower Lower East Side shop, has closed. The gate has been pulled down, and a sign on the glass front announces that they've relocated. This isn't exactly true—we got in touch with one of the shop's owners, who told Racked that they've closed their retail division for the moment (there is a chance that they'll reopen eventually), but that their rental archives are still open by appointment. In other, more positive GLS news, owner and longtime LES resident Zia Ziprin has launched her own eponymous shoe line.
