Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
It was the word that won our Fashion Week Gift Bag contest, and the word which will possibly define a future slew of techy gear: McTwittered. First out of the gates is Squidder's Augmented Reality T-Shirt, on which is printed a code linking directly to your Twitter account, or more specifically, your latest Tweet. Point a code-sensing device at it (say a laptop or cell phone camera), and voila, your latest Tweet will appear to magically hover on you.
One day perhaps we will all be walking, (not) talking billboards for our status updates, assuming you can convince someone to stand still long enough to read their message. Can you just imagine luxury brands incorporating such a code into a dress design, whereby it would display designer and seasons details? Crazy, we say! Until then, you can follow our regular old Twitter here.
