Despite many, many rumors to the contrary, the chief executive officer of the company that owns Barneys says that the department store is not for sale. David Jackson tried to counter all the whispering by giving WWD a lengthy interview about the state of Barneys. He insists that everything is just fine! No, better than fine—great! “'We look at Barneys and benchmark it against all the major competitors. In the time we have owned Barneys, we certainly think Barneys has consistently outperformed its competitive set,' [Jackson said], though he declined to cite any statistics to back up the claim."
