The Cost of Matthew Williamson for H&M

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Another day, another article on the Matthew Williamson for H&M line. This time, it's a retread from WWD. We get the drop dates again (his first, women's-only collection will drop on April 23rd at 200 stores worldwide; the second, both men's and women's, will debut on May 14th at all H&Ms), and there are quotes from both Williamson and H&M's creative director. There's also pricing info: "$49.90 for shorts to $349 for a ruffle gown." That's right in line with what they were charging for, say, Cavalli for H&M—but that collaboration launched two years ago, when we weren't in a recession. [WWD, subscription req; Previously]
