Spot Check: Steven Alan and Opening Ceremony Aplenty at Uniqlo

New, 6 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you didn't line up on Thursday morning to get first crack at the Steven Alan and Opening Ceremony lines for Uniqlo, have no fear. Days later, the store's stock looks barely depleted, and most items are still available in full size runs.

As Racked commenters noted last week, the men's section was practically devoid of smalls and extra-larges when it was delivered to the store; sadly, that's still the case today. A few items have proved popular, like the shawl-neck jacket (there were only a few left in navy), but racks of button-downs, blazers, cardigans and polos remained full. On the women's side, we spotted plenty of xs, s, m, and l dresses and shirts; only one piece, the three-quarter-length-sleeve red gingham shirt, was close to selling out in extra-small. And, there's still back stock. Recession aside, the persistent cold weather can't be helping sales of this summery stuff.
