A dark cloud has swept over the downtown sneaker scene. Well, over two major players in the downtown sneaker scene: Clientele and Nort/Recon. Clientele shuttered about a month ago, and Nort/Recon is having a liquidation sale (perhaps spurred by a little in-store flooding), and plans to move to Brooklyn in a few weeks. The pertinent sale details: tees are $5, hats are $10 and sweats are $20. Are sneaker stores' golden days over? Is it time to panic?! Not yet: Dave's Quality Meat and Alife all appear to be holding strong.
