It's not often that we see sample sales actually delivering on promises of 80-90% off retail, but walk all the way through Chelsea Market on 9th Ave to the Adam Lippes sale, and behold. Having rented one of the open shop spaces through Sunday, the Adam sale is just as worthwhile as it is large. Although The Shophound was right in that men have very little selection, women will find it a paradise for Hamptons-y resort wear and buttery soft basics.
Quantity is not the only draw; the prices are totally doable with nothing over $60 for women ($75 in mens) and the average being $25. Just ignore the random few boxes of $400 Christian Louboutins mixed in with $20 Adam flats. We scored a very svelte little black dress with a zipper all the way down the back for $25 (down from $275), a luxuriously slouchy hooded drape top for $25 (down from $295) and a perfect tank for $20 (down from $88). Did we feel a little naughty paying so little with Adam's store only two blocks down? Not at all; this is what sample sale pricing should be.
