It's hard to classify month-old Carroll Gardens newcomer Store 518. The boutique, opened by designer Nadia Tarr (of Butter by Nadia), is part old-timey general store, part vintage clothing, knick knack, furniture and accessories trove. To give you an idea of the mix, here are the merchandise categories from the store's site: housewares, measuring devices, toys and games, hunting and fishing, science and medical, curiosities, leather goods, linens, children's, jewelry, lighting and electric, and shoes. In this economy, there's no harm in diversifying.
