The itty-bitty storefront snuggled between Rag & Bone and Rag & Bone Mens on Christopher Street has just undergone something of a head-scratching switcheroo. In a matter of two weeks, Lord Willy's has retreated into their original location on Mott Street while MZ Wallace quietly slipped into the opening and debuted their second New York location after Crosby Street.
To recap: Christopher Street has lost the second NY location of Lord Willy's, an irreverent haberdashery with a cult following, and gained the second NY location of MZ Wallace, an expensive locally-based line of women's handbags. We're a little baffled by MZ's decision to settle down here; if they think it a nice alternative to having a Bleecker Street store, then they don't understand that that traffic doesn't usually make it to the little retail pocket around Rag & Bone. Any bets on how long they'll last?
