Okay, people: it's lunchtime on a Friday and we think that's a good enough reason to hit up the Intermix Warehouse Sale currently going on at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. According to a friend who dropped in last night, the sale is best for those willing to sort through mounds of polyester and sequin crap for the real deals. We have to agree, as our visit this morning turned up buckets of $19 Kors by Michael Kors espadrilles which were marked so low for a reason (ugliness!) and racks of sparkly vests with a few $300 Elizabeth and James bits thrown into the muck.
Happily, if you avoid the piles of pleather pants, there are plenty summer finds including Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders and Proenza Schouler tops and dresses in the designer area for $350 or less. Speaking of the designer section, we were startled to spot Herve Leger dresses up front and ranging from $700 to $399; whereas our friend swears that "there were no bandage dresses last night!"
The verdict: if you can only briefly browse, skip the bulk and go straight to designer. Look any longer and you'll come away with some mangy clubwear or clonky DvF sandals. Just don't say we didn't warn you about those pleather pants.
