Both Elle and New York Magazine have interviews out today with Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, who was just nominated in the category of Outstanding Period/Fantasy Television Series for tonight's Costume Designers Guild Awards. On her favorite NYC shopping destinations: "When I lived in New York, I would always find the best stuff at the Salvation Army on 46th St. And I was obsessed with going to their fur and leather sales that they had two or three times a year. I have whole collections from them. And The Garage in Chelsea, that was another favorite, plus vintage stores on the Lower East Side, like Fab 208." She also told Glamour about the Salvation Army on 46th Street, so consider that rummaging destination ruined for now. [Elle; The Cut; Slaves to Fashion]
