RED HOOK—Blog The Word on Columbia Street points out that the neighborhood might be soon be known for its drinks production as much as its ball field vendors and Swedish high-design megastore. Red Hook Wines is almost ready to open, and the blog sees a trend developing: "This new business is part of what seems to be a movement towards Red Hook becoming a beverage production center and destination - with Six Point Craft Ales across the street (pictured below with Rocky Sullivans), the arrival of a Stumptown Coffee roasting plant and cafe, and the long discussed potential move of Brooklyn Brewery (and its infamous tastings and tours) to the area." All of this should make shopping for Poängs and Beddinges that much more fun. [TWOCS]
GREENPOINT—Tomorrow, February 24th, happens to be both Mardi Gras and the last Tuesday of the month, so quirky furniture shop Kill Devil Hill's monthly Tuesday party is going to be particularly festive this time around. From 7pm to 10pm at 170 Franklin Street, the Hurricanes are on the house. Show up in a costume for 20% off; utter the secret password ("storm's brewin'") for free beads. [Racked Inbox]
