If new it-designer Julian Louie's Spring/Summer '09 collection was inspired by deep-sea divers (lots of neoprene), we think his mind was on Spain when he was putting together his Fall '09 line. The high-waisted brushed-cotton pants, cropped felt jackets and boleros he showed at Drive-In studios reminded us of matador costumes. (The background music at the show sounded Spanish, though we'd be hard-pressed to name what it was we were listening to.) While Louie's fabric of choice this time, microfiber, wasn't as weirdly cool as his last, the shapes and colors still felt very new and different from what has been shown all week at the tents.
