Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: classic designs from Carolina Herrera.
Show location: The Tent at Bryant Park
The skinny: Jewel-toned, polished looks in richly textured fabrics.
Celebs spotted: Rachel Zoe plus assistant Brad, and Desiree Rogers, Michelle Obama's social secretary.
The takeaway: The First Lady could wear the whole collection.
10:15am: Just saw Nina Garcia breeze in to the show.
10:17am: I'm in! Standing room looks packed. I see a bunch of empty seats, though.
10:22am: Think Anna just arrived.
10:27am: They've just unwrapped the runway.
10:28am: It's started! Lots of forest greens and earthy browns.
10:30am: They were playing classical music, now it's super weird UFO-sounding techno.
10:31: Looks are very polished and buttoned-up. Classic Herrera. Lots of texture. Now seeing grays and some black. No bright colors as of yet.
10:33am: Pops of eggplant and teal. Caplets and elbow-length gloves. And a turtleneck dress.
10:36am: Stately gowns out. Plenty of jewel tones, very rich textured fabrics, lots of patchwork, but like high-class patchwork (eg not hippie patchwork). Oh no, a stumble!
10:37am: And it's over.
10:38am: She comes out, takes a bow in her trademark white button-down. Looks amazing.
10:39am: Model who stumbled was last model in model parade and was walking verrrrry slowly.
