Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: Cheeky menswear at Duckie Brown.
Show location: The Salon at Bryant Park
The skinny: Sporty menswear with a twist. Some over-the-top touches, like massive pom-pom hats and oversize scarves.
Celebs spotted: Fashion Week mainstay Patrick McDonald, looking very dapper in a plaid suit and his trademark hat.
The takeaway: Men, it's okay to wear a ski mask with your suit.
12:45pm: On our way in. After this show, we've got Charlotte Ronson and BCBG, so a mini-marathon is about to begin.
12:52pm: Found our seat—not bad! Jack from Project Runway is here. He's had work done, right?
1:06pm: Many fabulous men here.
1:15pm: Spotted: Lovably cranky retail blogger the Shophound.
1:19pm: Dear girl next to me: I know you are not a buyer for Saks. For shame, seat stealer. For shame.
1:22pm: It's almost time. I can feel it.
1:30pm: It's starting. First down the runway: A guy in a orange ski mask and a giant pompom hat.
1:32pm: Coats, earwarmers, orange gloves, lots of black and those crazy pompom hats—this is a very wintry collection so far.
1:34pm: The music, by the way, is totally insane techno. It's like they set computer noises to a beat.
1:36pm: They're doing a lot with little pops of orange, including one pair of orange pants. Not sure what to make of the jacket with the orange-lined vents. Two themes: Big hair, big scarves.
